Update: The quality of the embedded video is terrible and I apologize. Here is the direct link to the YouTube video, which should be a little clearer: Prosper202 Tutorial – Adding Custom Traffic Sources

My first post of December has been longer than expected in the making. What was supposed to be a quick post at the beginning of the month, quickly dragged to a few days due to unforeseen server issues with my ISP, as well has having connectivity issues with Comcast.

My Internet came screeching to a halt on Friday and so I decided that while I waited for Comcast to fix the modem issues, I’d do a complete overhaul on my home LAN, getting it up to par with 21st Century technology.

Long story short…I’m back up and can finally get back to posting. So here ya are: A complete icon pack for Prosper202, drag and drop import and you’re done!

Download the included zip from the Winzip icon above and watch the video below if you wanna see me walk you through it how to set it all up.

Adding New Traffic Source Icons To Prosper202

If you’re a more experienced Prosper202 user, you’ve probably used it by now with traffic sources other than PPC. I know I have.

I’ve ran campaigns specific to Craiglist, Ebay, YouTube, and Myspace. Though you may not be able to track at the keyword level from each traffic source, you can still see your clicks coming in with the spy view and see any conversions that might occur.

But you’ll quickly notice, that any traffic source that wasn’t included by default in the Prosper202 download, won’t have an associated icon. Instead, you’ll get an ugly question mark in it’s place.

Here’s how to fix that and is quite easy. Let’s do YouTube for example. Read the rest of this entry

How To Install Prosper202 On An SSL (HTTPS) Server

Prosper202 With HTTPS SSL As I mentioned in my previous Prosper202 tutorial on the “10 Best Practices To Securing Your Prosper202 Installation“, I would eventually post a tutorial on how to get Prosper202 to play nice with an SSL server once I had finished some more testing.

We’ll I think I’ve figured it out.

Word of Caution: Before attempting any of the steps mentioned below, I HIGHLY recommend you setup a 2nd Prosper202 install from which to test on. Do not do this on a production installation.

Why user Prosper202 with SSL?

Without getting into too much of the “techno-babble”, SSL provides your sessions with encryption. This means that when you login to your Prosper202 account, your login information will be encrypted, instead of being sent to the server in clear text.

Also, you’ll have the sneaky advantage of totally blanking out your referrer, bwahahaha.

By default, Prosper202 can cloak your referrer when the cloaking options are turned on, but this still passes the domain of your Prosper202 install to your CPA network. They won’t see your landing pages of course, but they will still be able to see that all the traffic comes from domain “tracking.xyz.com” for example.

When using cloaking in conjunction with HTTPS tracking links, your referrer will be blanked, and your CPA network won’t have any idea where the traffic is coming from. Stealthly eh?
